Basketball Recap: Fivay Has No Trouble Against Cypress Creek

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fivay walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 49-30 victory over the Cypress Creek Coyotes on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Fivay can attribute much of their success to Jordana Montaner Rodgers, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Montaner Rodgers has posted since back in November of 2024. Melany Garcia was another key player, putting up five points along with five boards and three steals.

Fivay was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Creek only posted four assists.

Cypress Creek's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ameeya Steadham, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Deslynn Nickell, who scored 11 points. Nickell is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Fivay is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Cypress Creek, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Fivay will face off against River Ridge at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. River Ridge will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Fivay surely won't give up without a fight. Cypress Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
