Basketball Recap: Seabreeze Comes Up Short

After soaring to 56 points the game before, Seabreeze was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were outmatched by The First Academy Royals and fell 64-30. While losing is never fun, the Sandcrabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Royals are ranked 195th).

Despite the defeat, Seabreeze saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reece Casto went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points. Casto's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Among those leading the charge was Corey Capps, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Clinger, who posted nine points and three steals.

Seabreeze's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for The First Academy, their record is now 4-1.

Seabreeze will head out to square off against University at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for The First Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 84-62 defeat against Victory Christian Academy on the 14th.
