The Purnell Swett Rams can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 66-53 win over Douglas Byrd. Purnell Swett's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Collin Sampson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with three steals. Timothy Locklear was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six steals.
Douglas Byrd's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darnell Hinson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tydus Whitehead, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Purnell Swett's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Douglas Byrd, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-14.
