Basketball Recap: Center Grove Comes Up Short on the Road Against Greenwood

Center Grove kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 76-54 to the Greenwood Woodmen. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Woodmen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Center Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zavier Laney, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Klint South, who shot 41% from the field on his way to 17 points.

Greenwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Acen Swain, who went 10-for-13 en route to 23 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Swain a new career-high in shooting accuracy (77%). Braden Reynolds was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Looking ahead, Center Grove will be playing at home against Franklin Central at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Greenwood, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Greenwood Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
