Basketball Game Preview: Abundant Life Owls vs. Union Christian Academy Eagles

The Abundant Life Owls just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Union Christian Academy Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Abundant Life came up short against Little Rock HomeSchool and fell 45-38. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Flames are ranked 135th).

Despite the defeat, Abundant Life saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rosie Townsend dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Townsend is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Kahler, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union Christian Academy). They breezed by Southwest Christian Academy to the tune of 57-15 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Union Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Abundant Life, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-7.
