Basketball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph hadn't done well against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Saint Joseph Jesters really took it to the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-35 victory. Given the Jesters' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Cardinals are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saint Joseph got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bella Harmon out in front who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. Harmon is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Ava Washington was another key player, going 9 of 13 on her way to 23 points.

The victory was the eighth in a row for Saint Joseph, bringing their record for this year to 16-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.6 points. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saint Joseph will take on Ontario Christian in a tournament on Saturday.
