Football Game Preview: Thornwood Thunderbirds vs. Thornton Wildcats + Official Tickets

The Thornwood Thunderbirds will face off against the Thornton Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thornwood will be strutting in after a victory while Thornton will be coming in after a loss.

Thornwood's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Bloom 28-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Thunderbirds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Thornton fell victim to Wilmington and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 47-0 defeat at the hands of Wilmington. While losing is never fun, Thornton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Wilmington is ranked 82nd).

Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Thornwood, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Thornwood against Thornton when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 27-0 win. Do the Thunderbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
