Baseball Recap: Maine South Takes a Loss

After flying high against Glenbrook South on Thursday, Maine South came back down to earth. The Hawks lost 10-2 to the Brother Rice Crusaders on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered since March 26th.

Maine South got a good showing from Jack Gianikos, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Gianikos has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Nate Cera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Luka Stojakovic, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Maine South's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Brother Rice, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Looking ahead, Maine South will venture away from home to square off against Glenbrook North at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Brother Rice, they will welcome Joliet Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
