Softball Recap: Weatherly vs. Marian Catholic
Weatherly extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They lost 23-0 to Marian Catholic. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Marian Catholic this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in March.
As for Marian Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Considering they have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Marian Catholic's part, Kayla Birrer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Birrer was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Malina Letcher was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Maggie Turrano also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Weatherly didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 24-0 defeat against Williams Valley on the 24th. As for Marian Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 24-2 victory against Shenandoah Valley on the 24th.
