Baseball Recap: Fowlerville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Stockbridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fowlerville). Everything went their way against the Stockbridge Panthers on Friday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Gladiators as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Rogan Slayden made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Slayden was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Perras, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Fowlerville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Wyatt Soli was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Fowlerville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fowlerville picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-9. As for Stockbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Fowlerville will head out to take on Eastern at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Quakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.91 runs per game on average), something the Gladiators will no doubt try to take advantage of. Stockbridge has already played their next match (against Gabriel Richard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
