Basketball Recap: Liberty Lions vs. Boulder Creek Jaguars
After flying high against Mountain Ridge last Tuesday, Liberty came back down to earth. The Liberty Lions took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boulder Creek Jaguars. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 84-75.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from TJ Harris, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephan Miller, who posted 14 points and seven boards.
Even though they lost, Liberty was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boulder Creek only racked up eight assists.
Andrew Bhesania was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds for Boulder Creek. Another player making a difference was Matthew Delgado, who went 5-for-6 en route to 17 points.
Liberty's record now sits at 15-9. As for Boulder Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.
Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-70 victory against Pinnacle on the 13th. As for Boulder Creek, they will welcome Red Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on February 19th. Boulder Creek is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Red Mountain a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
