Baseball Recap: Williams Valley Find Success

While Williams Valley's victory against Minersville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Miners 4-2. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Miners on their field since May 8, 2023.

Cayden Witmer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Witmer was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Fletcher Thompson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Camden Berger, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The victory snapped Williams Valley's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-7 record. As for Minersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Looking ahead, Williams Valley will take on Mahanoy Area at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Golden Bears at the right time seeing as the Golden Bears are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Minersville, they will challenge Marian Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
