Softball Recap: Marquette Catholic Takes a Loss

Marquette Catholic dropped their record down to 9-14 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Jersey Panthers, falling 15-3. If the Explorers were looking for revenge after losing 8-1 to the Panthers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Alyssa Coles made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Jersey, they moved to 6-11-1 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Jersey's side, Anna Kribs and Chloe Beemer did most of the damage at the plate: Kribs went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Beemer went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI Beemer has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Holly Brainerd, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marquette Catholic will face off against Cahokia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Jersey, they will square off against Collinsville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: the Panthers have lost three straight at home , while the Kahoks have lost six on the road.
