Largo is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Northeast is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Largo Packers will host the Northeast Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Largo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hollins, but still couldn't quite topple them. Largo was the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Hollins on Thursday. While the Packers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Laila Weber was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Mia Kabakov was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Elle Fleck, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, while Northeast put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Countryside. Everything went Northeast's way against Countryside as Northeast made off with a 15-0 victory.
The team relied heavily on Lashell Roberts, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (four). Victoria Frye was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Northeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Countryside only posted an OBP of .273.
Largo's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Northeast, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Largo's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. Largo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Northeast, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Largo continue to outrun the ball?
Largo might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Northeast when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Largo have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
