Volleyball Recap: Royall's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Royall unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cashton Eagles. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

While Royall ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Bria Gruen paced Royall's offense, picking up 22 kills. Gruen got some help from Elizabeth Klipstein and her 31 assists. Gruen was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Royall's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Cashton, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Royall has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Lourdes on the 27th. As for Cashton, they will square off against Brookwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
