Mayfair came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they left with even more momentum. They rang in the new year with a 51-39 win over the Fairmont Prep Huskies. The 51-point effort marked the Monsoons' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Mayfair's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Fairmont Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Mayfair and Fairmont Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings.
