Basketball Game Preview: Baker Gators vs. West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors

Baker has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while West Florida Baptist Academy has won six straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Gators will welcome the Conquerors at 6:00 p.m. West Florida Baptist Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Baker, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Baker against Pensacola Christian Academy as the squad secured a 79-45 win. The Gators pushed the score to 62-39 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, West Florida Baptist Academy lost 60-37 to Faith Baptist Christian Academy on Saturday. The matchup marked the Conquerors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Shepard Brown and Grant Frazier. Frazier had a great game and shot 41% from the field en route to 17 points along with eight assists and eight boards. Meanwhile, Brown did his best for the losing side, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Florida Baptist Academy fell to 4-1. As for Baker, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Things could have been worse for Baker, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-47 loss to West Florida Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brown, who posted 22 points. Now that the Gators know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
