Basketball Recap: McEwen Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Santa Fe on Monday, McEwen came back down to earth. The Warriors fell 51-41 to the Stewart County Rebels on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-37 two weeks ago.

When it comes to explaining why McEwen lost, don't look at Laila Downs. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 23 points and 18 boards. Downs' evening made it 41 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Carly Baker also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

McEwen's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Stewart County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

McEwen and Waverly Central will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stewart County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Houston County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
