Baseball Recap: Platte Canyon Takes a Loss

If Platte Canyon was feeling good fresh off their 19-7 takedown of Cripple Creek-Victor last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Huskies lost 14-6 to the Middle Park Panthers on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 12-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

Platte Canyon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layne Karashinski, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another was Rachael Hayes, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Platte Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Middle Park, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Platte Canyon is set to challenge their familiar foe Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Middle Park will take on rival Bennett at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
