Basketball Recap: NC GBB Academy Falls to the Burlington School in First Game of Season

NC GBB Academy had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against The Burlington School Spartans, falling 89-31. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-19.

The Burlington School was led to victory by Geren Holmes and Karon Watlington. Holmes shot 73% from the field to rack up 24 points and seven steals, while Watlington almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. Drew Johnson was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 12 points and seven boards.

Coming up, NC GBB Academy will venture away from home to face off against Durham Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for The Burlington School, they will take on Gaston Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
