Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Peninsula

Peninsula had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Timberline Blazers. This was a revenge game for the Seahawks: when they faced off against the Blazers last Wednesday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Abby Hoyt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, McKenna Peterson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Peninsula was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Peninsula's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Timberline, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 18-6-1.

Peninsula has already played their next game, a 13-7 defeat against Kennewick on the 22nd. As for Timberline, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-5 loss against Bishop Blanchet on the 22nd.
