Softball Recap: Pontotoc Drops Season-High Score on Clarksdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pontotoc). They put the hurt on the Clarksdale Wildcats with a sharp 20-0 win on Monday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Star Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Pontotoc got a massive performance out of Madi Collums, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Collums a new career-high. Kelsy Spears was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Pontotoc was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clarksdale only posted a batting average of .000.

With the win, Pontotoc broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-10. As for Clarksdale, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-18.

Pontotoc will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
