Baseball Game Preview: Kirkwood Cobras vs. Northeast Eagles

For the second straight game, Kirkwood will face off against Northeast. The Cobras will venture away from home to face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Kirkwood has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Northeast will arrive with four straight victories.

Kirkwood fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Northeast on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-6 to the Eagles.

For Northeast's part, Isaiah Robinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Robinson a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Northeast is undefeated when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jamarion Green, who went 3-for-6 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cayden Young, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Northeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Northeast pushed their record up to 8-13 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Kirkwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
