Softball Recap: Carlin Has No Trouble Against Sierra Sage Academy/Right of Passage

Carlin won the last time they faced Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage and things went their way on Saturday too. Carlin blew past Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage 25-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Railroaders.

Amelya Doxey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kayona Christensen was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Christensen is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Joey Drown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Carlin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 24.0 runs over those games. As for Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlin will head out to face off against Pyramid Lake at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage, they will square off against Virginia City at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage's pitchers better be ready for this one: Virginia City has averaged an impressive 12.4 runs per game this season.
