Recap: Eureka Loggers vs. Del Norte Warriors
Even though the Eureka Loggers have not done well against the Del Norte Warriors recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Eureka enjoyed a cozy 55-40 win over Del Norte. Given Eureka's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th, while Del Norte is ranked 845th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eureka's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Estrada led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Michael Jewell, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Eureka has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Del Norte, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
Eureka will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Fortuna at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for Del Norte, they will play host again and welcome Hoopa Valley, where tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
