Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lucas Terrell and Luke Garrett Lead Cowan to Victory

Cowan entered their tilt with Southern Wells on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 71-61 victory over the Southern Wells Raiders. The Blackhawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.

Leading Cowan to victory were Luke Garrett and Lucas Terrell. Garrett shot 55% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards, while Terrell went 6-for-12 en route to 17 points. Terrell has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Cole Carter also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Cowan was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Southern Wells' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cj Reber, who went 10-for-14 on his way to 24 points. What's more, Reber also posted a 71% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Joshua Aulbach was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Cowan's record is now 7-14. As for Southern Wells, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-20.

Cowan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-52 win against North Miami on the 4th. As for Southern Wells, they have also already played their next contest, a 71-39 loss against Wes-Del on the 5th.
