Baseball Recap: Nine Straight Home Wins for United

United won the last time they faced Leetonia and things went their way on Monday too. The Golden Eagles came out on top against the Bears by a score of 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Kadin Schonauer made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Those 19 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Carter Simmons and Cavan Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Simmons went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Jackson went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two RBI gave Simmons a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Swanson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

United pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Leetonia, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

United will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
