Softball Recap: Mount Dora Comes Up Short

Mount Dora extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Belleview Rattlers. The Hurricanes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rattlers earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Mount Dora saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ADDISON GANUS, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Belleview, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.

On Belleview's side, Ya'Mari Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Reynolds has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Mount Dora will head out to take on Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Belleview, they will be playing at home against West Port at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rattlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolf Pack have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
