Softball Preview: Saint James Trojans vs. LAMP Golden Tigers
The Saint James Trojans will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the LAMP Golden Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Saint James waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-1 win.
Tatiana Shuford was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lily Stanford, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, LAMP made easy work of Booker T. Washington on Tuesday and carried off an 18-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for LAMP.
Alexandra Dubois made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Dubois has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Mims is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last eight games she's played. Grayson Dickert was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Saint James' win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 9 runs. As for LAMP, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Both Saint James and LAMP just can't seem to miss. Saint James has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game.
