Baseball Preview: Western Panthers vs. Peru Tigers
The Western Panthers will take on the Peru Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Western will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Western is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Northwestern. Western's win was all the more impressive since the Tigers were averaging only 4.07 runs allowed on the season.
Meanwhile, Peru posted their closest victory since May 10th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Logansport 8-6. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Berries recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Isaac Braley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Eldridge, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Peru hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Western's record now sits at 25-4. As for Peru, their record is now 15-10.
