Baseball Game Preview: Joliet Central Steelmen vs. Plainfield East Bengals

For the second straight game, Joliet Central will face off against Plainfield East. The Steelmen will head out on the road to take on the Bengals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Joliet Central has now lost 15 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 1st.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Joliet Central nor Plainfield East made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Steelmen took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bengals.

Andrew Nixon was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had over his last three matchups. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

In other batting news, Michael Stokes and Fynn Bernhard stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stokes went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Bernhard went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Joliet Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Plainfield East, their victory ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-16-1.
