Softball Recap: Norton Starts Season with Victory at Home

Norton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They blew past the North Attleborough Rocketeers 8-2.

Liana Danubio was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Rodriguez, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Artz, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norton is headed away from home for the first time to take on Bishop Feehan at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Attleborough, they will challenge Dighton-Rehoboth Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
