Volleyball Recap: Turner Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Topeka, Turner was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Varsity Opponent. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Bears as it put an end to their five-match losing streak.

Turner's got stronger as the match went on, holding Varsity Opponent to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-12, 25-5.

Turner was led to victory by Izzy Cox and Shyann Herring. Cox had six aces and four digs, while Herring had 14 digs and two aces. Those six aces gave Cox a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Turner was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Turner's victory bumped their record up to 9-16.

Looking ahead, Turner will take on Bonner Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Varsity Opponent has already played their next contest (against Riverdale Baptist), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
