Softball Recap: River Ridge Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lakes

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Ridge). They were the clear victors by a 29-3 margin over the Lakes Lancers on Friday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Jaylah Sok Vandergriff made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, River Ridge got a massive performance out of Sophia Rodriguez, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those five runs gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Lahtecia Garduno Hatch was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

River Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

River Ridge's record is now 11-6. As for Lakes, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

River Ridge has already played their next game, a 9-2 win against Capital on the 28th. As for Lakes, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-4 loss against Peninsula on the 28th.
