Basketball Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Eagles vs. University Titans
While the Trinity Christian Academy Eagles couldn't quite beat the University Titans on Thursday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 28-point defeat they were dealt last Tuesday. Trinity Christian Academy fell just short of the Titans by a score of 33-31. Trinity Christian Academy has not had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Trinity Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Marrero, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marrero has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Haylee Morelli, who scored nine points.
University found their leader in underclassman A'ziyah James, who scored 11 points. James is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Chaviany Nelson was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Trinity Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for University, their win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Flashes at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. St. Joseph Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for University, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Atlantic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday.
