Basketball Recap: Koltin Barlow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sparta Academy over Crenshaw Christian Academy

Sparta Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars by a score of 33-31 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since January 30, 2024.

Sparta Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Koltin Barlow, who posted four points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Murfee Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Sparta Academy and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Crenshaw Christian Academy, with the victory, they broke their ten-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4.

Sparta Academy will be playing at home against Escambia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crenshaw Christian Academy, they will head out to face off against Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
