Softball Recap: Kiski Area Has No Trouble Against Gateway

Kiski Area's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Gateway Gators as Kiski Area made off with a 16-2 victory. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Aubrey West spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyla Hutcherson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Morrow, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Gateway, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Kiski Area is set to challenge their familiar foe Franklin Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Gateway will take on rival Greater Latrobe at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
