Basketball Game Preview: South Brunswick Cougars vs. Laney Buccaneers

South Brunswick hasn't had much luck against Laney recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Brunswick Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Laney Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

South Brunswick is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They were beaten by Topsail 60-20. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Laney has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to New Hanover on the road by a 63-49 margin on Friday.

Laney's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for South Brunswick, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

South Brunswick took a serious blow against Laney when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 71-33. Can South Brunswick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
