Baseball Recap: Lee County Takes a Loss

Lee County extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-16 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Wolfe County Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

As for Wolfe County, their record is now 19-10. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Wolfe County's part, Chance Fallen and Camden Oliver were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Fallen tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Oliver pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fallen has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Fallen went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Oliver went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Oliver has posted since back in April.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Slade Freeman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Landon McWhorter was another, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee County will take on Powell County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wolfe County, they will square off against Morgan County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
