Baseball Recap: Baird Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Baird had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Aspermont Hornets on Tuesday.

Mason Kirk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Kirk was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, AJ Wheeler was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Wheeler is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Chaney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Aspermont, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Baird will face off against rival Hamlin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Aspermont is set to take on their familiar foe Jayton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
