Metea Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Naperville North, who was ranked 16th at the time (Metea Valley was ranked fifth). The Mustangs took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Monday. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Metea Valley couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, DeKalb fell victim to Sycamore and their airtight defense on Saturday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 1-0. DeKalb have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

DeKalb's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Metea Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Metea Valley took their win against DeKalb when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Barbs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
