Volleyball Recap: Kami Wemhoff's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pius X over Omaha Westside

Pius X suffered their biggest defeat since September 23rd on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Omaha Westside Warriors. The Thunderbolts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Pius X was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Omaha Westside's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 25-22.

Pius X lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kami Wemhoff, who had 11 digs and two assists. Another player making a difference was Mallory Mahan, who had nine digs.

Leading Omaha Westside to victory were Jane Kubat and Mary Bahle. Kubat had 13 digs and one assist, while Bahle had eight digs. That's the most digs Bahle has posted since back in August.

This is the second loss in a row for Pius X and nudges their season record down to 17-14. As for Omaha Westside, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Pius X has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Fremont on the 18th. As for Omaha Westside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Millard North on the 18th.
