Football Recap: Tija Tate's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Copper Hills over West Jordan

Copper Hills made up a huge gap compared to their last game against West Jordan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 29-27 on Friday. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tija Tate, who picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Tate got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 57 yards. Ethan Hill was another key player, having thrown for 275 yards and two touchdowns.

West Jordan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cody Johnson, who rushed for 128 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Dunn, who threw for 191 yards and two TDs.

Copper Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for West Jordan, they pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Copper Hills is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Jordan, they will head out to take on Alta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
