Lake had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Southview Cougars on Saturday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Flyers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.
Lake not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Southview between 16 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-19.
Caity Extine paced Lake's offense, picking up 12 kills. Extine got some help from Savanna Saunders and her 34 assists. Calli Conley controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against St. Ursula Academy on the 18th. As for Southview, they will head out on the road to square off against Whitmer at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The contest will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
