Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Madison County's 12th in Last 13 Outings

Madison County extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Jhy Smith. The Madison County Cowboys breezed by the Wakulla War Eagles to the tune of 71-25 on Monday thanks in part to Smith, who posted eight points along with eight boards and seven steals. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Detrez Lamar, who had nine points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Wakulla saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brian Ford went 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points.

Madison County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Wakulla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-14.

Madison County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-57 defeat against Chiles on the 28th. As for Wakulla, they will challenge Munroe at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Munroe has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 209 points over their last three games.
