Baseball Recap: Peninsula Has No Trouble Against Mount Tahoma

Peninsula never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past the Mount Tahoma T-Birds 17-0. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

John Browand looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Matthew Saunders and Cole Scholer did most of the damage at the plate: Saunders went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run, while Scholer scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Saunders a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Tellez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Peninsula always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Tahoma only posted an OBP of .167.

Peninsula's win bumped their record up to 4-0-1. As for Mount Tahoma, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peninsula will host Prairie at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Peninsula 0.2, Prairie 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Mount Tahoma, they will be playing at home against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Tahoma is facing Lincoln at the right time seeing as Lincoln is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
