Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Peach County Trojans

The Monroe Golden Tornadoes will challenge the Peach County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monroe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.

Monroe is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Randolph-Clay just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Golden Tornadoes have suffered since December 8, 2023.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Lorenzo Still and Tyrion Smith. Smith had a solid game and went 5 for 12 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. Meanwhile, Still did his best for the losing side, going 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points.

Meanwhile, Peach County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 52-47 to Northside.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Peach County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Everything came up roses for Monroe against Peach County when the teams last played back in February of 2023, as the squad secured a 68-33 victory. Will Monroe repeat their success, or does Peach County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
