It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but University Prep had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Durham Trojans 9-8. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won five contests in a row.

Jack Ampi made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyson Wurzer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Gio Purcell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

University Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

University Prep's record now sits at 13-14-1. As for Durham, the loss snapped their winning streak at 12 games and leaves them with a 27-2 record.

University Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-3 win against Winters on the 23rd. Durham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
