Preview: Awaken Christian Lions vs. Founders Classical Academy Centurions
Awaken Christian is on a seven-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Founders Classical Academy an 11-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Awaken Christian Lions will take on the Founders Classical Academy Centurions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, Awaken Christian ended up a good deal behind White Pine and lost 47-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Awaken Christian in their matchups with White Pine: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Phoenix Sharp, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Sharp is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Rasmussen, who scored six points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Founders Classical Academy was beaten by White Pine 65-7 on Friday.
Awaken Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Founders Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Awaken Christian against Founders Classical Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 56-0 victory.
