Baseball Recap: Western Boone Comes Up Short

While it was Western Boone who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Danville who put up more. The Stars took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Stars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Quinn Westerfeld was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Westerfeld wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Hawkins, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Western Boone and nudges their season record down to 7-7. As for Danville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Western Boone beat the Warriors by a score of 4-2 later that day.
